Kena Tiao…

Sigh… weird how come some leaders just blow up at innocent people and they themselves are bad examples. today we all went in to class, happy that we got all the ingredients we wanted for this week, and then?

CLASS CANCELLED. and I quote,"You guys can fuck off. This isn’t your grandfather’s school." Yeah, but it isn’t your grandfathers’ either. So we pay like, RM 1500 per semester for cutting and cooking food that we eventually sell to the college anyways, and then, class cancellled just coz someone most probably ate a bad kerang in the nasi lemak in the morning in the kitchen, (which, should not be practiced at all. so Ditto!)

He comes in late and blames us for getting the food ready slow. He scolds us for not knowing how to do things, when he doesn’t even show us in the first place. When we don’t know, we ask questions, and all he does is? Give a sardine face that makes you feel like you’re the only idiot in the world that doesn’t know. I guess, he should have said in the beginning of the class that we should know everything by then, and that this wasn’t a CLASS, this is called, FREE TIME to use the kitchen and produce food to sell. if so, we would have had all our misunderstandings out of the way before we even started.

Sigh, as I would like to quote a lecturer I look up to, "Be Professional."

His reason for cancelling class, coz majority was late. so everyone loses. even the ones who are punctual. PFFT.

Must be, his grandfather’s name is Kay Dee U.

Food, GLorious Food…

Is it me being blind all this while? Or am I feeling really super over-the-top happy today? But I just realised this…

I LOVE WHAT I’M DOING~!~!

Haha… for those who know how fickle minded I can get… this is a pretty big revelation.. right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to incorporate all the other things that I love, loved and will love into my life…

Anyways,

Things are coming together… the feeling you get when everyone’s in the kitchen, stressed, working their asses off, damn sleepy coz we’re in there at 5.30am and working straight to 4.30pm, the last minute brilliant ideas that hit us and the sheer art of the finished products proudly sitting on the trays being rushed out.

Not only for that day, though, everyday that we’re in the kitchen, just the sounds of our movements, hot air and cold feet, smell of fresh garlic, smells of something being cooked in the pan, the oven, the fryer… the fact I can put my hands into fresh produce and FEEL it, LEARN about it, get to KNOW it, to be in such close personal contact with your ‘work’ and then it responds and dances for you, to become something delicious & beautiful, above which hovers the glory of plain ol’ hard work.

There are so many types of food in the world, so many ingredients, so many different purposes - how can one possibly have tried everything? everyday, someone somewhere out there creates something so exquisite that the journey from ordinary to phenomenal should be recorded. I think in this industry, we fully utilise all our senses. To look, then smell, then touch and then taste and hear how it moves and comes together in our mouths.. after that?

PURE PLEASURE.

woohooo… i’ve got shivers in my spine… and it feels like it’s gonna be there for a very, very long time…..
